Dr. Rosie Ward has a diverse background with over 17 years experience promoting well-being, employee engagement and transforming organizations. She holds degrees in kinesiology, public health, and a Ph.D. in Organization and Management where her research focused on organizational culture, intrinsic motivation and coaching. Dr. Ward is a Certified Intrinsic Coach®, a Certified Intrinsic Coach® Mentor, and a Level 3 Certified Judgment Index™ Consultant. This unique combination of expertise creates profound results for organizations.
Topic for 2012 CEO Breakfast: Leaders Role in Creating a Culture of Well-Being
A “Culture of Well-Being” is more than pedometers, veggies and wellness campaigns. Too often well-meaning employee safety, wellness and recognition programs have unintended, negative consequences because their scope is too narrow and they have been designed around incentives to drive participation. However, participation and engagement are not the same; engagement is what is critical to long-term success and stems from empowered employees with a high degree of intrinsic motivation, not incentives. Leaders play a critical role in whether or not employees will be engaged. Creating a culture that fosters sustainable change, empowerment and engagement requires a high level of intrinsic capacity and motivation and a shift in how leaders and employees think about themselves and the world around them.
